Does it hurt?

If you aren’t used to the sensation of waxing, it can feel disconcerting and tender. However, having a professional salon experience makes a huge difference - both to the outcome and the journey to get there. We take client comfort seriously - learn more about how we make you comfortable

How do I prepare?

It goes without saying to make sure you arrive for your men’s intimate grooming or men’s waxing appointment both clean and comfortable. But the best preparation starts a few days (or more!) beforehand - by making a skin scrub a regular aspect of your skincare regime. This will promote a healthy skin barrier and help wax to adhere well to hairs for an efficient waxing experience.

Continuing the scrub regime post-wax also reduces the chance of ingrown hairs, which can be a likely occurrence following waxing. Note - it’s a good idea to leave your skin to rest from scrubbing for 24-48 hours post-wax, as the waxing process can leave it a little tender.

Will everyone know?

Only if you tell them. Our busy salon is home to a wide range treatments for men and women so it is not obvious what you will be here for - our staff take client discretion seriously.

I’m worried about becoming aroused

This is a common concern amongst first time male clients. However there is no need to worry or feel embarrassed - as soon as the procedure commences it is near physiologically impossible for this to happen.

Rest assured that the expertise required for men’s waxing and intimate grooming means only our salon founder Noemi Santos (aka Mimi) undertakes the appointment. With her decades of experience as a beauty professional - treating clients both in northern and southern hemispheres (she is Brazilian) - she knows how to put you at ease.

How long will it take?

This will vary depending on your body and requirements. Our most common men’s waxing procedure - the BSC or Men's Hollywood - usually takes just thirty minutes.

At Mimi’s Brazilian we believe the two most important things for a successful men’s waxing experience are good lighting and high quality wax. It is our investment in these that enables us to provide such an efficient and comfortable experience - and keeps our clients coming back.

How often should I wax?

It’s up to you and your preferences. Our regular clients rebook appointments every 5-7 weeks, as this is the optimal time for both for sufficient hair regrowth to allow effective waxing, while short enough to give you the most comfortable experience (longer hair can be less comfortable to remove, as you may appreciate after your first experience).

Should I try at home first?

Over the years we’ve had a few clients come to us after an initial attempt to wax at home - all of whom have admitted they wish they had come to us first.

It speaks for itself that when it comes to men’s waxing, it’s best left to professionals. We use the most effective techniques and equipment to ensure a tolerable (and many clients would say pleasant) experience - plus there is a far lower chance of the kind of injuries and harm you can do to yourself if attempting to wax at home.
